Fix invitations that did not arrive

What each delivery status means, why WhatsApp sometimes holds back or blocks a card, and how to resend by WhatsApp or SMS.

Most invitations arrive within seconds. When one does not, the guest table tells you why and offers the right fix. This guide explains each status and what to do about it.

Read the delivery status

The Delivery column in the Guests table shows where each card is:

StatusWhat it means
—No card has been sent to this guest yet.
Waiting its turnThe card is queued because other guests share this number. It goes out automatically.
SentWhatsApp accepted the card.
DeliveredThe card reached the guest's phone.
ReadThe guest opened it.
FailedThe card could not be delivered. See below.
Needs top-upThe send was paused because your wallet ran out.
SkippedYou chose not to retry this guest.

On the event header, a red badge counts failed cards. Above the table, a yellow box shows how many guests need attention, split into failed deliveries and cards awaiting a top-up.

Guests who share one phone number

WhatsApp briefly blocks a business from sending many messages to the same number in a short time. Families, couples and ushers often share one phone, so Shereko spaces cards to a shared number automatically, about a minute apart.

  • Before you pay, the send window says how many guests share a number and roughly when the last card will go out.
  • While cards go out, the guests in the queue show Waiting its turn with the time their card will leave. You can close the page; sending continues.
  • If WhatsApp still holds a card back, the row says WhatsApp briefly held back several messages to the same number. We'll try again. Shereko retries on its own a few times over about half an hour. You do not need to do anything.

WhatsApp's per-person limit

WhatsApp limits how many business messages one person can receive from all businesses over a period. When a guest has reached that limit, the row says:

Not delivered: WhatsApp limits how many business messages one person can receive, and this guest has reached that limit for now. You weren't charged. Try again in a few days.

This is WhatsApp's decision, not a problem with your card or your account, and Shereko cannot override it. Retrying soon will fail again, so Shereko does not retry it automatically. You have two options:

  1. Tap Send by SMS on that row to reach the guest by SMS now.
  2. Wait a few days, then tap Try again.

Numbers that cannot receive WhatsApp

A card fails if the number is not on WhatsApp, or the number is wrong (a missing digit, an old number, a landline). For these guests:

  1. Check the number in the guest table. Use the full number including the country code, and fix any typos.
  2. If the guest does not use WhatsApp, set their Channel to SMS in the table.
  3. Open Retry options (the circular arrow on the guest's row) and choose Retry via SMS, or Retry via WhatsApp after fixing the number.

Resend failed cards

One guest: open Retry options (the circular arrow at the end of the guest's row) and choose Retry via WhatsApp, Retry via SMS or Skip — don't retry. If the card already failed on that channel, Shereko warns you that it may fail again. When WhatsApp's per-person limit is the cause, the row also shows Send by SMS and Try again buttons right under the explanation.

Everyone at once: in the yellow box above the table, tap Retry all and pick a channel. Choose SMS for guests that failed on WhatsApp.

Waiting for a top-up: guests marked Needs top-up go out once your wallet has enough balance. Top up, then use Retry all. See Top up your wallet.

Open Messages › Sent messages on the event. Each send shows how many cards were sent and how many failed. Usage shows totals, unique guests reached, and how many times each guest was sent a message.

FAQ

The status is Delivered but the guest says they cannot find the card. Why?

Ask them to search their WhatsApp chats for "Shereko" or the event name. The card comes from Shereko's WhatsApp number (or your own number if you connected one), not from your personal number.

Will I be charged twice if I resend?

A resend is a new message and is charged again. Cards that finally failed were already refunded, so resending a failed card costs the same as the first try.

Why does a guest who never got anything from me hit the WhatsApp limit?

The limit counts business messages from every business, not just Shereko. A guest who receives many promotions elsewhere can reach it.

Can I avoid failures entirely?

Use Both as the channel for important guests: they get the WhatsApp card and an SMS, so the invitation arrives even if WhatsApp blocks the card.
