Contributions let guests support your event with money. Each guest pays through their own personal link, so every payment is matched to the right name automatically. You see progress against your goal in real time and can record cash you receive by hand.

Turn on contributions

You can switch contributions on when you create the event (the Contributions step, Enable contributions) or later:

  1. Open the event and go to the Money tab.
  2. Tap Turn on contributions.
  3. Open Contributions and tap Set goal to enter your target in TZS. A goal is optional, but it gives you and your report a progress bar.

How guests pay

Every guest gets a personal payment page. The link carries their guest code, so the payment lands against their name. There are two ways guests reach it:

  • The Contribute button. Use a WhatsApp template with the contribute link turned on. Your invitation then shows a Contribute button (Changia in Swahili templates) under the RSVP buttons. See WhatsApp templates.
  • From the Shereko WhatsApp bot. A guest who messages the bot can list their invitations and gets their personal contribute link, plus the gift registry link if it is on. See The Shereko WhatsApp bot.

On the payment page the guest:

  1. Enters Your name and Phone number (already filled in for most guests).
  2. Types the Contribution amount (TZS). The minimum is Sh 1,000.
  3. Chooses Mobile Money (TZS) and a network, or Bank Card (USD).
  4. Taps Pay Now and approves the prompt on their phone, or finishes on Stripe for cards.

They then see Payment Successful! with a receipt, and a receipt is sent to their phone.

On the Contributions page, the Payment link box has Copy and Open buttons. This link is marked as the host. Payments made through it are recorded as your own contribution, which is handy for tracking money you put in yourself.

Fees

Online payments (mobile money and card) carry a small service fee. It is added on top of the amount the guest chooses and shown to them before they pay, so your event receives the full contribution. Cash you record yourself has no fee. See pricing for the current rate.

The Shereko fee card on the Contributions page shows the total fee, and Shereko fee breakdown shows online payments, the service fee and the amount disbursed.

Track payments

Open the event, then Money → Contributions. You will see:

  • Total paid, Awaiting, All payments, Donors and Shereko fee.
  • Progress against your goal, which you can change with Edit goal.
  • Payments, filtered by All, Paid, Pending or Failed. Each row shows the guest, amount, method (Mobile, Card or Cash), date and status.

For an overview across all your events, open Contributions in the main menu.

Record cash

When a guest hands you cash or sends money directly:

  1. Tap Record cash.
  2. Enter Guest name, Amount (TZS) and an optional Note (optional).
  3. Tap Save.

It is counted in your totals and reports with the method Cash.

Export

Tap Export CSV to download every payment as a spreadsheet. The full event report also includes contributions. See Reports and exports.

Withdraw your money

Withdrawals happen in the Shereko mobile app:

  1. Open the event's contributions and tap Withdraw money.
  2. You'll see Available to withdraw, what you have already withdrawn, and any withdrawals still on their way.
  3. Tap Withdraw, enter the amount, choose the network under Send to and enter your Mobile money number.
  4. Check the Shereko fee, the network fee and You receive, then confirm.

Mobile money payouts usually arrive within a couple of minutes. Money paid by card (USD) is paid out by our team. Contact support to arrange it. See The Shereko app.

FAQ

A guest says they paid but I don't see it?

Check the Pending filter. Mobile money payments show as pending until the network confirms, usually within minutes. If the guest got an error or cancelled, the payment shows under Failed and no money was taken.

Can a guest contribute more than once?

Yes. Each payment is listed separately and all of them count towards your goal.

Do I need a goal?

No. Without a goal you still see totals, donors and every payment.

Can guests from abroad pay?

Yes. They can choose Bank Card (USD) and pay through Stripe.

Where do I get the Contribute button?

Use a template with the contribute link turned on when you send. If contributions are off when you send such a template, Shereko asks you to turn them on first.
